What is an
Excess?
An excess is an amount you pay as a
contribution to the first part of each and every Insurance claim made
against your insurance policy for your own damage. Some excesses also
require payment for damage to a third party. The two main types are
:-
compulsory excess. This is an excess imposed by the insurer. Instances
of this type might be model of vehicle, drivers age, drivers driving
experience. The second type :- Voluntary excess. This is an
agreed contribution you wish to make towards damage to your vehicle. Generally the
higher the voluntary excess agreed, the cheaper your insurance
premium becomes. A voluntary excess is always in addition to any
Compulsory excess imposed. So, £100 voluntary with £150 compulsory
gives a total excess applicable of £250.00.

classed as fault and none fault Insurance claims by insurers?
A none fault Insurance claim is an Insurance claim whereby your insurer is able to

whereby your insurers are unable to recover their costs from another
party. Remember, you earn a NO CLAIMS bonus not a NO BLAME bonus and
therefore even though you may feel you are not to blame e.g. THEFT of

claim as your insurer maybe unable to recover their costs from anyone.
